At Innis, we create a strong sense of shared purpose and community.Your opportunity:Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean, Administration & Operations, the Residence Steward oversees the operation of the residence front desk and indirectly supervising the Front Desk Porter team. As part of the Innis Residence team in the Office of the Dean of Students, the Residence Steward is holds an important student-facing position and acts as a first-point of contact for Innis College residents and students at the Innis Residence Front Desk. Responsibilities include greeting residents, students, and visitors, transferring telephone calls, processing mail and parcels, monitoring building access, issuing keys and equipment, and other reception duties. Additionally, the Residence Steward is responsible for supporting key residence operations, including scheduling other front desk staff, reviewing key and equipment audits, ordering supplies, responding to email inquiries, and supporting semesterly transitions of fall/winter students and summer guests.Your responsibilities will include:Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriateChecking residence database to confirm resident identificationUpdating and maintaining front desk porter's manualApplying established standards to control the distribution of access to designated University spacesPerforming routine building checksLiaising with facilities or caretaking staff to facilitate resolution of building issuesDirecting the activities of casual staff Essential Qualifications:High School Diploma or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Experience with two (2) years recent and relevant experience working in a residence environment, preferably with direct experience working with a diverse group of students.Experience providing front facing customer serviceExperience coordinating the collection and issuing of keysExperience with maintaining and updating logs through out the working dayExperience with recruitment, and training of casual staff and/or student staffExperience directing activities of casual staff and/or student staffExperience coordinatingstaff schedules to ensure proper coverageExperience with a reservation/residence databaseDemonstrated strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to adapt to new and changing prioritiesDemonstrated strong customer service skills with experience promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplaceExcellent problem solving skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsIntermediate skills with Excel, Word and OutlookProven ability to work independentlyAssets (Nonessential):Familiarity with StarRez , SaltoFamiliarity with UofT & Faculty of Arts & ScienceTo be successful in this role you will be:AccountableIntuitiveMotivated self-learnerMulti-taskerOrganizedResponsible Closing Date: 12/05/2025, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USW Appointment Type: Budget - Continuing Schedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:  USW Pay Band 04 -- $50,314. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $64,345.
