Associate Director, Software Engineering, Cloud Compute Platforms

The nature of the network is inherently a highly variable ecosystem that requires flexible, reliable, and resilient systems to operate efficiently. We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineering Manager to lead our Cloud Platform Compute teams at Wayfair. This role is responsible for driving GCP adoption across Wayfair, owning the compute infrastructure, cloud lifecycle management, and service integration platforms that power our global e-commerce operations. You'll oversee the provisioning and usage of GCP services at Wayfair while enabling engineering teams to build and deploy at scale. What You’ll DoLead a team of 20+ talented platform engineers across multiple engineering teams, including managing experienced engineering managers Drive GCP adoption and cloud platform strategy across Wayfair's engineering organization Architect and implement large-scale infrastructure migrations and platform modernization initiatives Own compute platform evolution built on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and cloud-native technologies Oversee cloud service provisioning, lifecycle management, and service integration across GCP Partner with engineering teams to provide self-service cloud platform capabilities that accelerate development velocity Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to develop platform capabilities that enable rapid application development and deployment Build and maintain robust infrastructure lifecycle management using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) Foster a culture of operational excellence, automation, and continuous improvement across cloud platforms What You’ll Need 10+ years of experience in platform engineering/SRE roles using object-oriented languages (Python, Golang, etc) Experience managing engineering managers and leading large engineering organizations (20+ engineers) Proven experience leading large-scale enterprise infrastructure migrations Deep expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud architecture Advanced experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and multi-cluster Kubernetes management Advanced experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices Experience driving cloud platform adoption across engineering organizations Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience implementing cloud native features with a focus on developer self-service platforms Experience with CI/CD tools such as Argo, Buildkite, Jenkins, Spinnaker Experience with platform observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring, Google Cloud Logging, Datadog, Pagerduty) Nice to Haves: Experience with Istio/Service Mesh technologies Experience with advanced deployment patterns (Canary, Blue/Green, A/B Testing) Experience with Kubernetes Admission Control (Kyverno, OPA, etc) Experience with workload scaling and capacity management (HPA, VPA, Capacity Planning) Experience in high-growth technology companies Why You’ll Love Wayfair Time Off: Paid Holidays Paid Time Off (PTO) Health & Wellness: Full Health Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA/FSA) Life Insurance DIsability Protection (Short Term & Long Term DIsability)  Global Wellbeing: Gym/Fitness discounts (including US Peloton, Global ClassPass, and various regional gym memberships) Mental Health Support (Global Mental Health, Global Wayhealthy Recordings) Caregiver Services Financial Growth & Security: 401K Matching (Employee Matching Program) Tuition Reimbursement  Financial Health Education (Knowledge of Financial Education - KOFE) Tax Advantaged Accounts Family Support: Family Planning Support Parental Leave Global Surrogacy & Adoption Policy Professional Development & Recognition: Rewards & Recognition  Global Employee Anniversary Awards  Paid Volunteer Work  Unique Perks: Employee Discount  .
