This role is hybrid out of the Mississauga office with an expectation to be in the office 2 days per week. As our UX Director, you’ll guide the design and user experience strategy for our cutting-edge application platform, empowering developers to extend Guidewire’s Insurance Suite with cloud services like Workflow, Rules, Extensions, and Business Functions, ensuring interactions are intuitive and delightful. This is a hands-on leadership role that involves collaborating with product directors, developers, and stakeholders, mentoring a team of UX designers, and guiding the design journey from research to implementation and testing. You’ll play a key role in defining and implementing UX best practices and prioritizing design initiatives within the UX Management team.ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing UX design team in a collaborative and inclusive environment.Contribute to the overall product strategy and roadmap for the application platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives.Champion user-centered design through insights from user research, data analysis, and a deep understanding of customers and users.Partner with product Directors, engineers, and other stakeholders to co-create cohesive and impactful design solutions.Oversee the entire design process from ideation and prototyping to testing, implementation, and tracking key user metrics.Identify opportunities to elevate the user experience and drive innovative design within the platform.Communicate design vision, strategies, and progress clearly to diverse stakeholders.Evaluate performance, provide feedback, and support growth for individuals and the team.Advocate for user-centered design principles and embed them within the organization.Align design goals with stakeholders and your UX team, ensuring design decisions are rooted in user research and data.Support designers in task estimation and sprint planning to ensure smooth project flow.Qualifications7+ years of experience as a UX designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role.5+ years as a senior manager or director of a UX team within a B2B product or enterprise cloud platform environment.A compelling portfolio demonstrating leadership of design projects solving complex business problems for technical users (e.g., business analysts and developers).Proven ability to collaborate with Product Management and Engineering teams.Experience designing cloud enterprise software for technical users.A strategic mindset with the ability to balance UX priorities and understand cross-program connections among diverse stakeholders.Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills; ability to present concepts to colleagues, stakeholders, and senior executives.Program management and organizational skills to drive design activities across multiple programs.Ability to balance innovation with technical realities and user needs.Experience with sprint and Kanban ceremonies and tools (e.g., Jira) is a plus.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in design, HCI, or equivalent professional experience is preferred.Join us at Guidewire and help shape the future of insurance technology with exceptional user experiences.
