Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operations Director is responsible for managing and optimizing all operational departments under their responsibility, including planning, production, inventory management, customer service, receiving and shipping, and continuous improvement. They oversee production execution, drive productivity, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards, quality requirements, budgets, and deadlines in a constantly changing automotive environment.As an active member of the management committee, the Operations Director plays a key role in achieving strategic objectives. Mobilize, train, and support teams through human and participatory leadership. Collaborate with the purchasing, industrialization, tooling, quality, and maintenance departments to support strategic projects. Develop and present action plans to the management committee. Conduct various production capacity analyses based on customer needs. Responsible for staff planning and management. Define and manage performance indicators and dashboards, with a focus on on-time delivery. Supervise, train, and evaluate team performance. Prepare and manage operating and labor budgets. Coordinate with customer service to ensure smooth operations. Ensure products meet quality standards in collaboration with relevant teams. Verify inventory levels, including raw materials, components, and finished goods, with short inventory cycles. Actively support Six Sigma continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvement. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety practices through continuous monitoring. Ensure environmental risks and impacts are addressed and mitigated. Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field. 10 to 15 years of experience in a management position in a manufacturing environment. Experience in the automotive industry (asset). Experience working in a unionized environment. Experience in a high-speed automated production environment (asset). Experience with ERP systems. Experience in change management and problem solving. Knowledge: Proficiency in IATF16949, quality, health and safety, and ISO 14001 environmental regulations. Advanced Excel proficiency and strong computer skills. Proficiency in Lean tools and 5S methodology. Bilingual: French and English (Spanish or Mandarin is an asset). Strategic and motivating leadership. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Strong technical and operational skills. Strong problem-solving abilities. Commitment to continuous improvement.
