The Insights and Analytics team provides timely and actionable guidance to Group Treasury and senior and executive leadership through the development and enhancement of robust tools to measure, forecast, and manage funding and liquidity within the context of applicable regulatory and operational frameworks. These tools include the Group Treasury Management Reporting Portal (GT MRP), the internal Power BI reporting and analytics platform for funding and liquidity data analysis. The Associate Director, Insight and Analytics has a mandate to lead a team in designing and developing best-in-class management information solutions leveraging technology and providing critical analysis and insights to drive data driven decision making. Success in this role is determined by a combination of accountabilities and demonstration of core values. This is a great career opportunity for interested candidates to expand skill set within the enterprise treasury function in a systemically important financial institution, collaborating with key business areas including wholesale capital markets, retail and commercial banking, and wealth management. Key Accountabilities Oversee and produce recurring executive management reports and dashboards, with strong attention to detail, agile mindset in driving new changes, and solid understanding of management direction. Perform ad-hoc funding and liquidity analysis for senior management in a timely manner. Develop complex SQL queries and procedures to satisfy routine and ad-hoc reporting needs. Partner with strategic stakeholders across Treasury to provide support and solutions through high quality data analytics. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate insights to senior management. Design and maintain a suite of Power BI reports constituting the GT MRP application, an accessible Treasury platform providing robust and easy to use data analytics. Design, develop and maintain robust data management solutions to support evolving management reporting and analytics. Support data analysis, data profiling, and data quality processes. Implement test plans and quality control procedures throughout development lifecycle. Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of all processes and deliverables within the purview of the role to satisfy audit and business continuity requirements. Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Monitor and analyze market trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Qualifications and Competencies: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree or relevant certification (CFA, FRM, etc.) is preferred, either completed or working towards. 4+ years relevant experience preferably in Treasury, Capital Markets, or Risk Management, with knowledge of a broad range of financial products and markets. Proven project management skills, successfully delivering small to medium sized initiatives. Strong Analytical and Modeling Skills: advanced knowledge of financial modeling and data analysis techniques. Teamwork, collaboration with a broad array of strategic partners, and strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to distill complex information into simple, understandable messaging. Knowledge of relevant banking regulations and risk management practices particularly applicable to funding and liquidity management. Proficiency In Financial Software and Tools: Relevant experience working with large databases using financial software (MS SQL server, advanced Excel skills etc.), market data (Bloomberg etc.), and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) Attention To Detail and Ability to Work Under Pressure: a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy. Be able to work efficiently under tight deadlines and handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
