We also offer summer hours, a December holiday break to rejuvenate, and an expansive university holiday schedule.Employee social functions that provide an ability to meet and network with other members of Team Memorial across our campuses.THE OPPORTUNITYReporting to the Director, Operations and Maintenance, this position will manage a team of skilled professionals and be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical systems for multiple facilities, including high (where applicable), medium, and low voltage components and electrical power generation systems (>13 MW. capacity in total). This is a crucial role for a technically skilled, safety-minded and people oriented leader who thrives in dynamic environments. Duties include:Overseeing the full lifecycle of high, medium, and low voltage systems – including emergency on-site power generation – ensuring optimal performance and code compliance; Developing, implementing, and overseeing maintenance programs for electrical systems;Managing a skilled electrical workforce through effective team building and communications while aligning with University policies, procedures, and collective agreements;Developing and implementing short, medium, and long-term plans for electrical systems and resources to meet requirements of the University community and strategic goals;Providing technical leadership on existing and planned systems elements in support of modifications and upgrades to infrastructure arising from within Facilities Management and the broader University as well as utility providers, consultants, and government agencies/representatives;Directing the planning, execution and oversight for projects related to electrical systems upgrades, expansion, and replacement;Reviewing project design documents pertaining to electrical systems to verify compliance with standards;Developing and overseeing service contracts, ensuring quality delivery and cost-effectiveness; Managing budgets for electrical system operations, maintenance and projects;Staying current with evolving regulations and standards, ensuring all systems meet current codes and best practices; Working collaboratively and participating in the overall management of the operations and maintenance team in pursuit of University and departmental strategic goals and continuous improvement objectives;Championing a culture of safety and regulatory compliance across all electrical operations; andPerforming other related duties as required.THE IDEAL CANDIDATEA minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in specialized facilities management support services with senior technical knowledge in electrical distribution systems; vast knowledge in electrical systems, power and control systems and their operation and maintenance; and completion of an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering is required. The successful applicant will have experience managing technical teams, proven budgeting and people management skills, as well as excellent problem solving, analytical, planning, and organizational abilities, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Registration or eligibility for membership with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) is required. Project management certification or experience will be an asset.SALARY $96,244 - $126,638 per annum (Leadership Group)  An upscale hiring step will apply to this position at $126,638 (Step 9).
