JOB PURPOSEThe Medical Laboratory Technologist 2 is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory procedures according to prescribed policies and procedures.QUALIFICATIONSA graduate of a school of Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BsMLS).Registered with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science and licensed and in good standing (a practicing member) with the New Brunswick Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists.Ability to attend work on a regular basis.Ability to perform the duties of the position.Good work record.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Medical Laboratory Technologist 2 is responsible for:Collecting specimensPerforming routine and specialized proceduresValidating and reporting test resultsOperating, troubleshooting and doing preventative maintenance on equipmentPerforming quality control and participating in quality improvement activitiesProviding guidance, training and orientationEmployees are responsible to be aware of and understand Horizon’s Terms of Employment COMPETENCIES IDENTIFIED BY THE CANADIAN SOCIETY FOR MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE 2005:Safe Work Practices Critical ThinkingData Collection and Specimen Procurement/Receipt Applied InvestigationAnalysis of Specimens and Validation of Results Resource ManagementAnalytic Techniques Communication and InteractionInterpretation and Reporting of Results ProfessionalismQuality Management COMPETENCIES IDENTIFIED BY HORIZON HEALTH NETWORK:Attention to Detail Planning and Prioritizing WorkInterpersonal Skills Problem SolvingResults OrientationPatient/Client Orientation Stress ManagementThe successful candidate awarded this position could be eligible for a 2K recruitment incentive which comes with a return of service commitment to HHN.Interested?
