Indigenous Economic Development Analyst

Spirit Omega is pleased to announce that we are seeking an Indigenous Economic Development Analyst.This position is intended for candidates who identify as First Nations, Inuit or Metis. Candidates from these communities who wish to be considered must self identify. Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain proactive, positive, and constructive relations with participating First Nations. Guide eligible First Nations through the application process, assess project eligibility, and review applications. Coordinate due diligence from initial concepts to funding applications, including assisting with risk assessment and financial planning.Conduct high-quality analysis and due diligence for funding applications, including assessing the probability of success and conducting risk assessments as required. Review project budgets and assist with financial analysis, as needed.Coordinate documentation required for funding agreements and disbursements to ensure timely processing of disbursement requests. To ensure timely and accurate record-keeping for all funding applications and related correspondence in the CRM. Record, track, and analyze key indicators and data for reporting. Track active projects, support First Nations in completing reports, and communicate progress and risks.Support annual updating and evaluation of Funds well-being outcomes. Collaborate/liaise with the Director, Stewardship Funding/team, Director, Development, Communications Team and First Nations project coordination staff, as needed. Assist in the development of briefing and de-briefing meetings & materials. Conduct research and analysis on provincial and federal economic development, and ensure Annual workplan items are completed successfully.Qualifications: A postsecondary field related to commerce, business administration, economic development, and/or an equivalent combination of the following training, experience.1 – 3 years experience of related experience, particularly with respect to financial and risk analysis. Strong financial analysis skills, and Strong business communication skills in both written and verbal form with an ability to write clearly and concisely for professional audiences.Experience conducting business industry/sector research and analysis. Experience with customer relationship management systems or database software would be an asset.Experience managing confidential client information and corporate file systems.Strong word processing and business communication skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.Maintain a positive attitude, handle complex topics, and adapt to situations. With a naturally inquisitive mindset, assess and recommend actions based on experience, new information, or research; identify risks and opportunities. Collaborate, teach, and influence to achieve win-win outcomes. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Be detailed, organized, and motivated to complete tasks/projects. Adapt to an evolving work environment and encourage others to value change.Balance multiple priorities to produce tangible results. Be motivated and willing to work autonomously, be self-directed, efficient, and energetic with a quick learning ability. Work comfortably in a high-growth, evolving, and high-functioning organization with a complex structure. While not essential for the role, the following would bring significant additional value to the role: Experience working with First Nations, Indigenous communities, or rural economic development. Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to First Nations administration, in addition to First Nation funding deliverables and reporting methods. Lived or work experience and/or familiarity with the Great Bear Rainforest and Haida Gwaii region and Coast First Nations. Project management skills, including planning, implementing, managing, evaluating projects, financial planning, budgeting, and identifying barriers. Working Conditions: This position is primarily based in the Vancouver office (3 days/week minimum), with semi frequent in-person meetings and workshops requiring short-notice attendance. A remote arrangement is possible for the right candidate. Regular in-office hours (Pacific Standard Time) for coordination and team meetings are expected. Intermittent compensated travel within the Great Bear Rainforest and Haida Gwaii for meetings or project site visits is necessary, with semi-frequent short trips (one/two nights) to Vancouver Island and up to eight overnight trips annually.
