Our Finance group is currently looking to add a General Accountant (Fleet) to our growing team, based in Edmonton, AB.Reporting to the Fleet Controller, this position is responsible for month end and quarter end reporting, working closely with the Finance team and Fleet team, on account reconciliations and financial analysis.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare time entry batches (twice a week) as part of transfer pricing or internal fleet equipment billing model / processWork with fleet managers to identify costs requiring accruals and ensure accruals reflect accurate timing of expenseReview and analyze GL transactions to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policiesMonitor fleet commitments and resolve aged obligations to reduce accrual risksPerform monthly balance sheet reviews, including AP, AR, WIP, deferred assets, and prepaid expensesPrepare amortization schedules for vehicle and equipment prepaid expenses, including initial deferral and monthly drawdown entriesPrepare and post adjusting entries and maintain accounting integrity controlsAnalyze monthly productivity and cost drivers across fleet operationsReview work order costs, identify inefficiencies, and prepare reclassification entriesPrepare KPI reports and financial analysis for rentals, repairs, fuel, and other major expense categoriesGenerate rental invoices and track billing informationConduct ad-hoc control reviews and recommend preventative measuresReview financing and leasing costs, assess ROI, and flag underperforming assetsUndertake special projects and utilize Excel for ad hoc analyses ( assist with acquisition and disposal of equipment; provide scenario analysis for buy, rent, or lease decisions)RequirementsPost-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or other related disciplines2 years of accounting experienceConstruction Industry experienceProficiency with Microsoft office suiteExperience with an ERP system (JD Edwards is preferred)Preferred Skills / QualificationsExperience in fleet, asset management or equipment accountingDesignated, or working towards, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)Advanced MS Excel skillsJob Posting End Date: December 14, 2025BenefitsWe offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including an RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.
