Position Summary:South Country Co-op is seeking a friendly and customer-focused Deli Clerk to join our team at the 13th Ave Food Store in Medicine Hat, AB. If you’re passionate about providing exceptional customer experiences, we’d love to hear from youReporting to the Deli Manager, this position is responsible for preparing a variety of deli foods: including meats, salads, pizzas, and sandwiches—while delivering an exceptional customer service experience. The Deli Clerk also contributes to maintaining product freshness, proper merchandising, and ensuring cleanliness and food safety in the department.Key Responsibilities:Provide outstanding service to customers in a prompt and friendly mannerPrepare deli items such as salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and specialty meatsStock, rotate, and merchandise deli products to ensure quality and freshnessMaintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safetyOperate deli tools and equipment safely and efficientlyAssist with product ordering and inventory controlFollow proper handling, preparation, and storage protocolsWork collaboratively as part of a diverse and multi-generational teamDeliver excellent customer service by assisting customers, promoting merchandise, and ensure customer needs, preferences, and expectations are metEducate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op Other duties as assignedQualifications:Must be at least 15 years of age and completed Grade 9Previous deli or retail experience is an assetKnowledge of deli products and preparation techniques preferredPhysically able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs (22.5 kg) and perform daily tasks such as standing, bending, and shelvingComfortable working in temperature-controlled environments (coolers, freezers)Strong interpersonal and communication skillsHigh level of integrity, initiative, and professionalismPositive attitude and commitment to learningAbility to work independently and adapt to new technologiesEffective in fast-paced, changing environmentsDemonstrated ability to treat others with respect, tact, and diplomacyWork Schedule:This position requires full availability, including days, evenings, and weekends.Why Work with Us?At South Country Co-op, we value our team members and are committed to their well-being and success.
