JOB DESCRIPTION Registered Veterinary Technician or Technologist, RVTLocation: Vancouver, BCDepartment: ERCompensation: $ to $ per hour, depending on experienceThe Vancouver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre is an established, cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary facility located in the heart of Metro Vancouver. We have been providing emergency care in this community since 1978 and specialty services since 2015. In addition to Emergency care, we provide Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Radiology, Critical Care and Oncology services.Our Emergency Service is welcoming enthusiastic, highly motivated Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs) to join our ever-growing teamOur Emergency RVTs will use their technical skills to the fullest and are given the necessary tools and resources to be successful in pursuing one or multiple passions within our hospital. Schedule: As the Emergency Service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this position will include shifts in the daytime, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holiday shifts. Shifts are typically 12 hours in length, 3 shifts/week.You will have opportunities to expand your learning through extensive exposure and involvement in various cases. Additional qualifications and attributes you must embrace to be successful in this role;Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT or eligible to registerConfident team player who can also work independently when requiredExcellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environmentExceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and pet parentsAbility to perform a variety of clinical procedures, including but not limited to: venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, in-house lab work, anesthesia/sedation monitoring, patient assessment, and emergency triageWilling to further enhance technical skills and expertiseStrong organizational skills and ability to keep accurate medical recordsAbility to thrive and provide a high level of care in an often fast-paced environment,Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and remain calm in stressful situationsAbility to adapt to changing situationsOur emergency department provides thorough training to all new staff members, including a mentoring program, to ensure the confidence and preparedness of all new team members.
