They must ensure that the developmental needs of children and the program needs of staff are being addressed and that programming follows best practices in early childhood education. This will be achieved through a combination of time on and off the floor: 50% time spent on the floor with children and staff and 50% time off the floor performing a variety of administrative, program and supervisory duties. This position is out of child care ratio.Requirements This individual must possess excellent communication and leadership skills and demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, dependability, fairness and understanding to staff and clients of the child care centre and of RODS. They must be dedicated to meeting the needs of the staff, children and centre and set an example to the other staff. A strong understanding and knowledge of child care policies and centre procedures as well as best practices in Early Childhood Education is required. This position is eligible for a monthly wage enhancement/top-up from the Ministry of Education. Pay periods are the end of day on the 15th of the month and the end of each month.Working ConditionsAs part of the Child Care leadership team, the Child Care Assistant Manager is expected to work the opening and/or closing shift of the centre, as agreed upon with the Manager, and be flexible with scheduling and hours of work to meet the needs of the program. Parking will be provided if required to use personal vehicle for work purposes.Our centre prides itself with a friendly, culturally diverse and family-like environment for our staff and families to provide a high- quality early learning experience for children and an enjoyable working environment for staff.Hours of work for this position are 8 hours per day Monday to Friday within the hours of 7:30am to 5:30pm, with an unpaid 1 hour break.
