Job SummaryThe Senior Auditor, Internal Audit will be responsible for independently executing risk-based internal audit engagements and control testing activities, including C-SOX testing, across Olympia Trust Company.This role requires a technically strong audit professional who can execute audit work with minimal supervision, apply sound judgment, and produce high-quality work aligned with Internal Audit methodology, the IIA Global Internal Audit Standards, and applicable regulatory expectations. The Senior Auditor plays a key role in delivering reliable assurance while continuing to develop regulatory, governance, and enterprise risk expertise. Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Auditor, Internal Audit is responsible for executing assigned audit and testing activities in accordance with approved audit plans, engagement objectives, and Internal Audit methodology.Key responsibilities include:Independently executes assigned audit engagements or components of larger engagements, including:planning support,risk and control identification,fieldwork and testing,documentation of evidence,issue validation, andcontribution to reporting and follow-up.Executes C-SOX testing activities, including:performing independent testing of key controls identified by management and the Second Line,executing testing procedures developed by Internal Audit,evaluating test results and control effectiveness, andclearly documenting conclusions and exceptions in accordance with audit standards.Applies Internal Audit methodology and professional judgment to:assess control design and operating effectiveness,identify control gaps and process weaknesses, andescalate issues appropriately.Supports regulatory, operational, and governance audits and readiness assessments, including work aligned to OSFI expectations, internal control frameworks, and enterprise risk priorities.Drafts clear, concise working papers and contributes to audit observations and reporting narratives.Participates in management action plan follow-up, including validation of remediation evidence.Coordinates effectively with Internal Audit team members, Second Line functions, and auditees during engagement execution.Maintains Internal Audit independence and avoids operational ownership of controls or processes.Leadership & Professional ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates professionalism, accountability, and ethical behavior consistent with the IIA Code of Ethics.Seeks feedback and coaching to strengthen audit judgment, regulatory knowledge, and execution quality.Contributes positively to Internal Audit culture, continuous improvement, and methodology enhancement. Formal Education and ExperienceThis role requires an individual who:Holds a university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.Has typically 4–7 years of internal audit, external audit, or risk experience, preferably in financial services or regulated environments.Is pursuing or holds a professional designation (CIA strongly preferred; CPA, CISA, CFE are assets).Demonstrates experience executing:internal or external audits,control testing (including SOX or SOX-like programs),risk-based audit work. Specialized Skills or Knowledge Working knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO).Experience executing audit testing and documenting conclusions to professional standards.Familiarity with financial services operations, risk management, or regulatory environments.Strong analytical, documentation, and critical-thinking skills. Working RelationshipsReports to: Chief Internal Auditor / Manager, Internal AuditKey relationships: Internal Audit team, Risk, Compliance, Finance, business stakeholders, and external auditors (as applicable). Career Path & Talent ProfileThis role is well-suited for candidates with prior experience in professional services or regulated financial institutions, including:Senior Consultant or equivalent roles in Big 4 or national accounting firms (Audit, Risk Advisory, SOX, or Internal Audit practices);Senior Internal Auditor or Audit Manager roles within financial services or other regulated environments; orProfessionals with strong end-to-end audit execution experience, including internal controls, regulatory compliance, and governance reviews. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to execute audit engagements independently, apply sound professional judgment, and operate effectively in complex and evolving regulatory environments.
