We are looking for a Pastry Cook to join the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel culinary team Working with the Executive Sous Chef and Pastry Chef, the individual in this role will be responsible for the production and presentation of pastries, collaboration in the creation of new ideas, and supporting with inventory/ordering. This individual needs to carry 2-3 years of pastry/baking experience in hotels and restaurants. This job position requires physical presence at the designated location. Vegan baking experience preferred. Volume baking experience required. Chocolatier experience preferred. Croissantiere experience considered an asset. Degree/Diploma in pastry/food science/culinary considered an asset. Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for the production and presentation of pastries and other baked goods. Assists the entire culinary department in the daily activities of the kitchen, including baked good/pastry menu development, inventory & purchasing of supplies. Requires an understanding of federal, state, and local food sanitation regulations. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Works with Executive Sous Chef and Pastry Chef to develop new ideas for banquets and a la carte baked goods and pastries. Successfully manages time and resources. Ensures that the professional equipment is in good condition and signals any malfunction before it affects the staff or the clients. Prepare the required volume of baked goods in a timely manner. Responsible for assisting with inventory of all products related to baked goods and pastry. Responsible for assisting with ordering all products related to pastry, in conjunction with the Pastry Chef. Maintains professionalism. Follow company grooming standards and policies.
