With the anticipation of opening a new building in March , we are searching for a Support Services Attendant to join our Shannex Transitional Health Services Limited team providing transitional care services at West Bedford Transitional Health in West Bedford, Nova Scotia. Through an innovative partnership with Nova Scotia Health (NSH), Shannex proudly operates the province’s first transitional health facility in West Bedford. This facility provides specialized care for NSH patients in the central zone who no longer require hospital care but need additional support and services before safely returning home or to their community. Sweeps, dusts, and wet mops floors. Cleans sinks, toilets and bath facilities. Fills and replenishes supplies in resident rooms, nursing units, and rest rooms. Empties and cleans trash receptacles and places trash in compactor and/or trash pickup area. Sorts laundry into appropriate piles based on the type of laundry (linens, mops, personal clothing) Operates washing machine using proper washing formulas. Operates dryer and extractor; loads clean, wet laundry into the machine, sets dials so the laundry is dried or damp-dried appropriately and unloads the machine. Sorts clean laundry into appropriate baskets or racks; counts linen needed for each area as per linen quota and puts on cart; notes name tags on resident clothing and puts on correct rack. Checks laundry for tears, holes, missing buttons, etc. and forwards clothing needing repair to the seamstress. Completes inventory on a regular basis. Orders supplies as required. Replenishes laundry cleaning chemicals as required. About You High School/ GED completion Minimum of one year experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry required Ability to learn and work in fast paced environment Ability to safely use chemical cleaning agents and equipment Experience working and communicating with internal and external customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner Proof of valid First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset Bilingualism in the French and English languages considered an asset Previous experience in working in a long-term care an asset Ability to provide a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check upon hire About Us Shannex is a family-owned organization with a vision of Better Living for every stage of life.
