Every day, your skills will directly impact programs that matter.Job DescriptionThe Land Command, Control, Communications, and Computers Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Applications team has an opportunity for a System Engineer to participate in the integration and validation of applications for the Canadian Army. The team builds and integrates a large variety of custom and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) applications and plugins used by soldiers in the Land Command Support System (LCSS), including Battle Management, Planning, Communication, and Data Exchange. We work hand-in-hand with our customer to integrate leading technologies from a variety of global vendors.This is a software integration and testing role. In this role, you will work on investigating and setting up new system deployments as well as implementing automated testing. You will be responsible for writing and maintaining test suites and custom plugins. You will work as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team that has adopted an Agile framework, so you will take part in Scrum events, Sprint reviews, and work collaboratively with our program teams and customers.Typical responsibilities include:Work with the customer in an Integrated Product Team environment and interact with software engineering, systems engineering, and solution teamsDeveloping test plan and strategies, writing and executing test procedures and fixing defectsDeveloping automation tasks for use in lab deployments and integration testingPerform integration and verification in labs, including preparing and executing test cases, analyzing results, and documenting findingsPrepare and review verification test procedures and reportsReport progress and status, share knowledge, and present ideas to colleaguesContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and expand knowledge of the latest technologies and products relevant to your area of work.Participate in the system designs presentations, engage in reviews and inspectionsReview requirement specifications, interface control documents, design documents, and use cases to develop test cases for software and integration verification & validationBuilding and maintaining virtual environments, including set up of virtual machines, their software, and networkingPrepare, analyze, and track defect reportsDeployment of new system solutions in a lab environmentDocumenting and presenting the results of the integration workWorking with the Product Owner and the Scrum Master, assist in the elaboration of team backlog items in support of Sprint and PI planning activitiesParticipate in validation tests, investigate issues found, maintain related documentation.Learn to deploy and upgrade part of the systemPerform other related duties as assignedAlways conduct themselves professionally, in all meetings and activitiesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldExperience in defining, developing, and executing integration or qualification tests, with an understanding of interdependencies and interactions between subsystemsExperience in the investigation, recommendation, and resolution of complex defectsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct analysis leading to sound conclusionsExperience working with Windows Servers, Networking (routing, VLANs), Microsoft applications, voice and/or data networks, and various automation tools (Python, Squish), troubleshooting tools (Wireshark) and simulation toolsAssets:3+ years of experience in the testing (communications and networking equipment is preferred)Experience with scripting languages such as PythonExperience with test frameworks such as SquishExperience with Gitlab and ArtifactoryExperience with automated deployment tools such as AnsibleExperience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CICD) is a plusKnowledge of Scale Agile Framework (SAFe) and/or awareness of the product development life cycle and associated processesExcellent communication abilities (written and verbal)Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct analysis leading to good conclusionsExperience with the Military background and understanding of deployment of technological assetsEnthusiastic contributor, willing to learn new skills, and takes pride and ownership of workIt is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed.
