This program converted over 18000 platforms, just over 15 years ago. General Dynamics Missions Systems – Canada (GDMS-C) is looking for a System Integration & Verification Engineer (SI&V) Internship student to join the BOWMAN product development team in Calgary, to support ongoing future capability development.The system integration & verification (SI&V) team has the mandate to execute integration and system testing on the Bowman communication system. The successful candidate will be responsible for test planning, definition, execution, reporting and supporting lab setup and configuration activities. Services consist of on-platform and off-platform communications, network data routing and forwarding, radio communications, Headquarter communications (fibre, Non-Line of Sight, etc…), battle management and system management along with email, chat, and other IT services such as custom applications and COTS products.Typical DutiesThe responsibilities and range of activities will vary, but in general will include:Perform firmware and software integration test activities for firmware and software builds.Review of subsystem and product requirements specifications, interface control documents, design documents and use cases.Develop and execute product integration and verification test procedures of various scope and complexity based on provided product level designs.Analyze, interpret and document test results and develop product integration and verification test reports.Identify, investigate and document defects, and verify solutions.Generate, maintain and improve lab scripts for automated testing.Support customer installation, integration and test activities.Understand concept of requirements verification.Provide input on schedule development, progress, and risks;Work closely with various engineering functions throughout the development cycle for the purposes of design capture and analysis.Make presentations of his/her work at design reviews or other types of peer reviews.Some travel may be required to support internal and external customers.QualificationsEducation Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or applicable scientific discipline is required. Required Skills & ExperienceDisciplined approach to test engineering.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong problem solving and analysis skills.Strong attention to detail.Enthusiastic contributor, willing to learn new skills, and takes pride and ownership of work.Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimum supervision.Experience in defining, developing and executing integration or qualification tests, and understanding the interdependencies and interactions between subsystems.Experience in the investigation, recommendations, and resolution of defects. Relevant experience with test engineering processes and tools.Knowledge and use of requirements tools, an asset.Experience in development of test automation scripts to improve efficiency of integration testing, an asset.Familiarity with radios, voice/data networks and Internet Protocols (IP), an asset.An ability to adapt quickly.It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed.
