The Opportunity We are looking for an Assessment & Progression Specialist to join the School of Medicine team This role leads the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of assessments for the Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) program in the School of Medicine. The Specialist provides consultative and operational expertise to clinical faculty, clinical consultants and staff to ensure assessments are mapped to program learning outcomes, grounded in best educational practices, and compliant with internal university and external accreditation requirements (CACMS, IQAP).The Specialist oversees assessment operations, including the development of assessment tools, standard setting, psychometric analysis, and reporting, and ensures timely and meaningful feedback to learners and program leadership. This role will also monitor learner assessment and progression using the UGME programmatic assessment system and support the UGME Competence Committee and Student Progress sub-committee in data-informed decision making and the development of learning plans.In close collaboration with the UGME Curriculum Team, the Learner Progress Unit and governance committees, this role will work to advance a culture of continuous quality improvement and ensure assessment and progression processes align with the School of Medicine’s mission, outcomes, and performance metrics.Responsibilities include:Assessment design, delivery and development, advising and facilitationLearner progression and decision supportResource development to support UGME assessment strategyProgram administration, research and knowledge management QualificationsTo help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:Completion of a Master’s degree in Education, Statistics or a related field is required.A minimum of five years’ experience in assessment development and delivery in a post-secondary environment, with direct experience in assessment design and implementation.Previous experience in medical education would be considered a strong asset. Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.Demonstrated expertise in data management, data analytics, and statistical interpretation, including post-test analysis.In-depth understanding of current assessment theory, methods and best practice.Knowledge of competency-based education principles and assessment implementation.Demonstrated assessment expertise developed through roles such as an educator, administrator, academic consultant or assessment researcher in a post-secondary environment.Proven ability to design, develop, deliver and evaluate assessments, including progress testing and analysis of psychometric data Demonstrated ability to interpret assessment data and clearly communicate insights and recommendations to diverse stakeholders.Knowledge of assessment evaluation tools, research, and emerging literature.Strong consulting and effective project management skills within the health and/or education environment, including the appropriate handling of confidential and sensitive matters.Excellent verbal and communication skills.Strong interpersonal and conflict mediation skills, with the ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.Ability to independently manage multiple projects and meet conflicting deadlines.Knowledge of organizational change principles as they relate to assessment and academic program development.
