Joining the team means being part of a supportive environment that values expertise, innovation, and doing great work together.This is an existing vacancy within the finance and accounting team.Role OverviewThe Assistant Controller provides detail-oriented and analytical support to the Controller and finance team within a fast-paced construction environment. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing timely reports, and supporting budgeting, cost tracking, and project accounting activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial acumen and a proactive approach to supporting day-to-day finance operations and continuous improvement initiatives.What You’ll Be Doing: Complete the monthly, quarterly and annual close process and reporting (including consolidated financial statements) within the established timelineAnalyze and interpret the financial results compared to budgets and forecasts, in collaboration with other departmentsSupport month-end internal and external financial reporting, as well as ad-hoc financial analysisAssist with the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, providing necessary documentationEnsure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and internal controlsAssist with the development and management of financial controls in accordance with the Company’s proceduresSupport the budgeting process by gathering financial data and collaborating with department heads to create comprehensive budget forecastsMonitor financial performance against budgets and report variances to senior management with actionable insightsAssist with working capital management and cash flow forecastingResponsible for completing statutory and Company specific filings within established deadlines, including HST returns, payroll filings and bank reportingAssist with creating, maintaining, and administering Company policies and identifying potential areas for process improvementMentor finance and accounting team members, fostering professional development and addressing any operational inefficienciesSupport and cross-train to Finance department processes Performs other duties as requiredPerformance Expectations include:Maintain effective relationships with colleagues, project personnel, suppliers, subcontractors and customer representativesCoordinate with Senior Management to ensure project issues are dealt with in a timely mannerConstant attention to accuracy and detail is essentialRemain fully familiar with MML’s Human Resources Policies and MML’s Health & Safety Policies & Procedures Prioritize Health and Safety in all areas of business Actively works to streamline work processes to remove inefficiencies Support Company ISO Quality Control efforts, and auditing as required Demonstrate a commitment to all accountabilities of the position, working towards the achievement of the Company goals and objectivesRequirementsWhat We're Looking For:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financeCPA designation preferred, or actively enrolled in the final stages of the CPA programMinimum 5 years of progressive, hands-on accounting experienceExperience with full-cycle accounting or equivalent finance responsibilities, preferably in the construction or mechanical contracting industryStrong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and financial regulationsProven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reportingExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information effectivelyHigh attention to detailAbility to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing demands while meeting tight deadlinesStrong verbal and written communication skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive tasks to completionEffective leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environmentProficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially ExcelBenefitsWhy Join Mattina Mechanical Ltd (MML)? Mattina Mechanical Limited (MML) offers more than just a job.
