The purpose of this position is the overall provincial leadership/management of the Social Supports programs within the Social Programs Division.These programs provide services to Islanders in greatest need of financial support.The goal of the Social Supports Program is to provide basic needs such as shelter, food, clothing, medical, dental and optical needs not covered by Health, and transportation. This position reports to the Director of Social Programs. Duties will include but are not limited to: Provide leadership, direction, management and advice to the supervisors within the Social Supports section; Provide leadership and direction on issues related to Community Care Facilities and the purchase of medical devices and supplies for clients of Social Assistance; Provide leadership and direction on issues related to the functional assessment of seniors related to their activities of daily living; The Manager of Social Supports is responsible for leadership, planning, and oversight related to employment programming for clients of Social Assistance; Develops, coordinates, monitors and evaluates efficient and effective services for clients and service providers related to the programs; Develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate efficient and effective services for clients and service providers related to the programs; Ensure program delivery is standardized across the province and is in alignment with the Department’s vision and strategic plan, as well as the Division’s annual management plan; Ensures appropriate, accountable, and ‘in-line with policy’/regulation spending of public dollars, and that indicators are monitored and adjustments are made to address efficiencies and effectiveness. Identify, determine and ensure the provision of appropriate recruitment, orientation, supervision and training and development of programs for staff and student placements; Provide leadership, motivation, support and healthy and safe work environment for staff; Provide leadership, direction, oversight, management and advice for all Social Programs Divisional activities related to the PEI The PEI Bridge Situation Table; The Situation Table is a triage mechanism for individuals and families deemed in acutely elevated risk. Other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of undergraduate degree in Social Sciences or related field, Master’s degree is considered an asset. Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered. Extensive related experience including program, human resource, and financial management. Extensive supervisory experience. Experience in Social Programs is considered an asset. Must have knowledge of Social Assistance and Child Care Subsidy Programs, including policies and procedures. Strong leadership, communication both written and verbal, team building, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Must have the ability to work with a high degree of independence while also functioning as part of a provincial team. A good previous work and attendance record and an acceptable criminal record check and vulnerable sector.
