Your Opportunity:Assumes the role as one of the Team Leaders for the Occupational Therapy pediatric division. The successful applicant will be a passionate clinical leader and solution-focused problem-solver. Assignment will include occupational therapy assessment, intervention, and consultation for children within the outpatient programs. Will plan and participate in the education of clients, families, students, and other providers. The Occupational Therapist II will work as part of the interdisciplinary teams. Will participate in planning and operations within programs and the Occupational Therapy Service. Requires pediatric tertiary level neurodevelopmental and neuromotor assessment and intervention.Description: As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area. Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).Additional Required Qualifications: A minimum of two years of experience in Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention of children with various physical and developmental disabilities is required. Degree from a recognized Occupational Therapy program. Connect Care training required. Effective teaching skills, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills are required. An ability and interest to lead and mentor others is essential. An ability to adapt and adjust to changing work demands/priorities is essential.Preferred Qualifications: Memberships with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or the Society of Alberta Occupational Therapists (SAOT) are recommended.
