Infection Control

The Infection Prevention and Control Manager reports to theDirector of Medicine, Patient Flow & Partnerships. The

Manager works in collaboration with the Medical Lead who holds aspecialization in Infectious Disease. Together

they are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the InfectionPrevention and Control (IPAC) program for all

patients, visitors and professional support services within theorganization. These responsibilities include: staff

recruitment, retention and development as well as financialmanagement of operating, consulting and research

accounts. The management role requires ongoing participation inleadership development and contribution to

corporate planning and continuous quality improvement. The Managerwill provide support and guidance to the

Region as an expert resource.

Quality Improvement responsibilities may also includeparticipating in professional development and education

activities/programs to ensure excellence in the provision of IPACservices. The manger is an expert consultant to

both internal and external partners. The manager ensures thesafety of all individuals within the organization and will

make every attempt to prevent injuries to all individuals.

Qualifications:

* Education Masters level preparation is preferable

* Minimum four(4) years Bachelor's Degree in a health relatedfield (e.g. Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology or

Public Health) from an accredited university.

* Current Certification in Canadian Infection control (CIC)

* Minimal of five (5) years experience working in InfectionControl within Acute Care or health care environment with

a minimum of two (2) years working in leadership/supervisory rolepreferably in a health care environment

Knowledge /Skills/Abilities

* Demonstrates ability to provide leadership in a challenginghealthcare environment.

* Demonstrates knowledge of current infection control issuesrelated to patient care and the health care environment

* Demonstrates knowledge of microbiology, statistics andepidemiological principles.

* Demonstrates outstanding communication, interpersonal andpresentation skills

* Demonstrates excellent leadership, critical thinking, problemsolving, conflict resolution, and organizational skills

* Demonstrates commitment to patient and family centered care.

Salary Range: $57.003 to 67.062
