Location: London, ONAbout the RoleThe CNC Programmer will be responsible for programming simple and complex parts for 5-axis and 3-axis milling operations. Working primarily with one-off and low-volume jobs, this role requires advanced Mastercam experience and a deep understanding of tooling and various machining strategies and at times will be required to setup CNC mills. The programmer will work closely with machinists and mechanical designers but will report directly to the Manufacturing Manager.RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain compliance with health and safety procedures; inform management on unsafe practices or hazards identified; maintain clean and orderly work areas Implement BOS Standards, identify potential areas of improvement and present them to the Manufacturing ManagerAttend area meetings for planning area activities.Generate, verify and optimize 5 axis and 3 axis CNC mill programs and create setup sheets using Mastercam and Cloud NC to produce quality parts within the timeline providedSelect appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, machining strategies and work holding to ensure parts are completed efficiently and according to mechanical drawingsCollaborate with machinists to ensure all programs are modified to the “as machined” parameters and provide on the shop floor troubleshooting related to the program as needed. Collaborate with the BOS mechanical engineering team to suggest improvements on part designs to improve manufacturability of current and future partsStay current with software updates as well as advancements in cutting tools and work holding as well as new machining strategiesMaintain organized documentation of programs, setups and part filesAssist with quoting work as requiredSetup and operate 5 and 3 axis CNC mills as requiredACCOUNTABILITIESProgramming – Accountable for creating programs for machining processes that are clear for Machinists and are error freeQuality – Accountable for creating CNC programs and processes that allow the machinists to machine parts that meet dimensional tolerances and other drawing requirements with very little rework.Efficiency – Accountable for creating programs in the allotted time in the order specified by the Manufacturing Manager that meet the allotted cycle timesDocumentation – Accountable for creating and maintaining up to date program packages for machinistsContinuous Improvement – Accountable for identifying, bringing to the Manufacturing Manager’s attention and implementing improved programming methods, machining strategies and process efficienciesSafety – Accountable for following all BOS and industry safety standards and best practicesThis description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
