Matrix HR is currently recruiting Journeyperson Welders for a major, long-term shipbuilding project in North Vancouver. This is a unionized position offering competitive hourly rates, double-time overtime, Living Out Allowance, and full relocation support for non-local candidates. This opportunity is well suited for experienced welders seeking steady work, strong compensation, and long-term project stability. Location : North Vancouver, BC Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week  Type: Contract, with potential for extension Start Date : February 2026 Compensation & Benefits Hourly Rate: $57.01/hour (January–February) $59.29/hour starting March 1, 2026   Overtime: All overtime paid at double time Union Benefits: $9.15/hour in employer-paid union health and pension benefits   Living Out Allowance (LOA): Month 1: $107.35/day Month 2: $85.07/day Month 3+: $56.76/day Relocation Support (Non-Local Candidates): Economy flights reimbursed upon successful work start Accommodation provided (fully furnished apartment (Internet + housekeeping included) Living Out Allowance paid daily No upfront costs. Expenses reimbursed after completion of the first week of work Job Security: Long-term project with potential for contract extension Key Responsibilities Weld ship structures and outfit components using SMAW and FCAW in all positions. Read and interpret blueprints, work packages, and welding specifications. Perform Oxy/Fuel cutting, Plasma cutting, and Air-arc gouging. Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and across varying weather conditions. Meet shipbuilding quality standards, VSY Safety Standards, and our clients Core Values. Set up welding equipment and prepare materials as required. Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors. Follow all site safety procedures and contribute to a safe, efficient work environment. Qualifications: Valid Journeyperson Welder Ticket Valid CWB SMAW All-Position certification (visual + X-ray) Minimum 6 months remaining before expiry Valid CWB FCAW All-Position certification Minimum 2.5 years (30 months) of welding experience Proof of SMAW and FCAW usage within the last 3 months Ability to successfully complete a plate weld test Proficient in Oxy/Fuel cutting, Plasma cutting, and Air-arc gouging Additional Requirements Full PPE required. Must be eligible to work in Canada. Background/security checks required. Why Work With Us?
