Post End Date:February 17, 2026 at 11:59 PMThis job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the Administrative Professional (Employee Group)About the Role:Reporting to the Director, Utilities & Services, the incumbent leads and manages the provision of comprehensive mechanical services to ensure that the University’s infrastructure, building, facilities,systems, andequipmentare safe, reliable comfortable, serviced andmaintainedto statutory and non-statutory Manager, Mechanical Services will deliver and communicate services relatedto emergencies, preventable maintenance inspections, demand maintenance,repairsand alterations, facility condition audits, and renewal associated with deferredcapital renewal andmaintenance. TheManager, Mechanical Serviceswill:Interpret and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including environmental protection, fire and electrical codes, occupational health & safety, boiler and pressure vessel codes, and other codes and regulations which may apply;Liaise with federal, provincial, and municipal agents, consultants,contractorsandinternal interest-holdersintechnical matters affecting infrastructure equipment, systems, and structures;Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to minimize any adverse impact of maintenance and conservation measures oncampus operations and activities;Ensureenergy efficient performance andoptimalfunctioning of mechanical equipment and systemsfor all university sites/campuses with theminimumoccurrence of disruptions;Coordinate, andmaintainan effective planned preventative/predictive maintenance inspection system for site infrastructure,buildingsand utility systems to assure a safe and compliantworkplace;Plans and coordinates all aspects of a variety of building shutdowns related to mechanical prevention and maintenance as well asscheduled andemergency repairs; Develop and implement short-term and long-range plans and operating procedures;Develop,maintain, and communicate standards and specifications for mechanical equipment and systems;Procure and provide for the continuity of effective and efficient services at all sites;Participate in the capital and operating budgeting,planningand priorities processes; Promote staff morale and understand strengths and weaknesses of staff,identifyopportunities to help individuals gain knowledge and further their skills;Provide leadership to staff and student employees, including assigning tasks, managing, coaching,mentoringand motivating to develop a client centered culture;Lead the development of the department operational/service planning and budget develop process;Develop targets and benchmarks tomonitorthe operational plan and budget, targets and benchmarks shoulddemonstrateeffectiveness and efficiency of operations, serviceresponsivenessand accuracy, with a focus on an exceptional customer experience and continuous improvement. KeySkills andExperience:Universitydegree or College diploma combined with Certified Engineering Technologist or Technician (CET) and/or Professional Engineer ( designation in mechanical; ValidClass Gdriver'slicense with an acceptable drivers abstract; Awareness and understanding of applicable legislation (such as, but not limited to,the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, Environmental Protection Act, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act);Knowledge of and ability to consistently interpret relevant collective agreements;Knowledge of, and ability to act on, University and Regional Emergency Response protocols;Ability to create a cooperative work environment both within the department and with other departments in the University who rely on the advice, negotiation, and knowledge provided;Ability toestablishand implement standards of work;Ability to estimate costs,manage budgets,prepare written reports, procedures, and guidelines;Comprehensive understanding of mechanical structures,systemsand standards;Ability to manage risks associated with the co-generation plant;Demonstrated and active commitment to individual and collective professional development and training;Strong project management, strategic planning,presentationand communicationskills;The knowledge to provide technical assessments, advise, and planning related to infrastructure in emergency situations and provide recovery and stabilization services as it relates to the mechanical infrastructure of the University;Exhibits professionalism,tactand the ability torepresentthe University in a professional andappropriate manner;Ability to supervise, lead, coach, mentor, and inspire a large teamin a unionized environment,where individuals work independently.
