This role oversees approximately 35 direct reports, including both Shell employees and contractors. The Supervisor plays an essential role in integrating within the asset by working closely with teams from projects, maintenance, and engineering. They ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations while fostering people development and delivering results through core work processes.Shell Canada’s Groundbirch asset is located approximately 70 km southwest of Fort St. John, British Columbia. It is an upstream Montney gas field that includes roughly 500 operating wells and four gas plants. Groundbirch is a key asset supplying feed gas to LNG Canada, and we take pride in helping Canada deliver LNG to the rest of the world.Accountabilities:Leadership and People DevelopmentAccountable for providing strong leadership that establishes and reinforces a culture of safety, reliability, and high‑quality production within the teamManage team performance by setting clear expectations, observing work execution, and providing timely, constructive coaching and feedback. Holds individuals accountable through respectful, fact‑based accountability conversations that reinforce standards and address performance gaps. Develop people on their team to be the leaders of the futureEnsure Safe ProductionResponsible for the delivery of production excellence by meeting production targets safely, reliably, and efficiently, while actively supporting shift teams to execute operating plans and achieve agreed targetsEnsure the ongoing health of operational processes by participating in routine health checks and shift team meetings, and by providing coaching and guidance to Operations Leads and shift teams on effective shift handover and the quality of shift logsMaintain a strong working knowledge of the Management of Change (MOC) process and how operations support and comply with it. And responsible for ensuring the Statement of Fitness (SOF) process is applied rigorously, with Operations Leads and shift teams fully knowledgeable and competent in their roles and responsibilities within the SOF processControl of WorkAccountable for ensuring operating and maintenance activities are executed safely by consistently applying required processes, confirming the risk ranking of work is understood, and verifying that hazard identification and mitigations are robust and effectiveEmpower teams to pause work when conditions change or deviations are identified, reinforcing a strong PAUSE mindsetConduct regular health checks to verify standardization, compliance, and alignment of work processes across the team, driving continuous improvement and disciplined executionCost LeadershipAccountable for fostering a strong cost‑leadership mindset by ensuring resources are used efficiently, waste is identified and eliminated, and operational decisions balance safety, reliability, and cost effectivenessActive monitors costs within the area of responsibility, challenges non‑value‑adding activities, and drives disciplined execution of plans to meet budget and performance targetsEngage and coach the team to understand cost drivers, make informed day‑to‑day decisions, and take ownership for delivering sustainable production results at the lowest responsible costWhat you bring Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employerHigh School DiplomaAt least 10 years of field‑ or plant‑based Production Operations experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory positionStrong knowledge of industry regulations, company policies, and operating proceduresWorking knowledge of Emergency Response protocols and requirementsDemonstrated coaching, facilitation, and people‑development skillsAbility to work effectively with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgmentStrong analytical skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusionsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage othersProficient in basic computer applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and ExcelAbility to deliver training, lead meetings, and facilitate group discussionIf you don’t see yourself fully reflected in every job requirement listed in the posting above, we still encourage you to reach out and apply.
