District Wellness Worker

  St. Leo Centre Lakeview Drive SW, Calgary   Salary 38.41 – 46.78 per hour (Category I) 45.6 – 56.34 per hour (Category VI) Overall Accountability The District Wellness Worker provides counselling support to students and families to increase the student’s chances of success by developing positive skills that assist them in managing issues and events impacting their functioning.  The District Wellness Worker is accountable for the development and facilitation of interventions designed to foster and promote stable home and community relationships.  Utilizing systemic approaches, the District Wellness Worker enhances students social/emotional wellbeing in home and school environments by establishing settings that promote mental health and wellness.   Specific Accountabilities Delivers trauma informed and culturally sensitive counselling support to students and their families Suggests opportunities for students and families to develop skills promoting mental wellness Consults with school personnel to foster environments supporting the social/emotional wellbeing of students Delivers crisis intervention and management to the home and school community, i.e., child welfare concerns, suicidal ideation, non-suicidal self-injury, etc. Enhances communication and relationships between school and home environments Supports family functioning through psychoeducational support and resource support Works collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and in consultation with Psychologists, Social Workers and Consultants, Learning Services to provide resources and strategies for the student, family and school personnel Day and evening work hours are required   Qualifications Education: Professional Grid I - Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Social Work Professional Grid VI - Master’s Degree in Psychology or Social Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Social Work - minimum of three years’ experience in the counselling of children, youth and families in relation to emergent social/emotional/behavioural issues Master’s Degree in Psychology or Social Work - minimum of five years’ experience  in the counselling of children, youth and families in relation to emergent social/emotional/behavioural issues Applicable to both Degrees: Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and a variety of social/emotional needs Experience in facilitation of psychoeducational presentations Knowledge of and experience working with community resources and agencies Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid certificates Valid Alberta Driver’s License and a vehicle in good operating condition Demonstrated collaboration and team-building skills Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills The Calgary Catholic School District is committed to fair and accessible employment practices and considers catholicity, equity, diversity, and inclusivity to be foundational to its institutional success.     The Calgary Catholic School District seeks to foster a workplace that reflects the full breadth of the communities it serves.    If selected as the successful candidate for this position, please be aware that you will be required, as a condition of employment, to submit to the District a police information check (PIC) prior to your start date . The check must be issued at the time of the job offer or within the past six months.  Please note, the cost of the police information check will be the responsibility of the candidate.
