Break through at Brock.Post End Date:February 9, 2026 at 11:59 PMThis job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the Part-Time Contract Positions (Employee Group)The Sustainability and Asset Management division within Facilities Management works to advance sustainability by coordinating projects and initiatives such as energy efficiency, waste diversion, and water conservation, while collaborating with the broader campus community on experiential learning and supporting regulatory compliance and reporting.Tasks & Responsibilities:The Sustainability Specialist will support Facilities Management staff in advancing several sustainability initiatives on campus. This includes developing content and managing social media, planning events, and creating materials to raise sustainability awareness. The position will assist with data collection and submission for university sustainability reporting and ranking frameworks, such as STARS and THE Impact Rankings. Additional responsibilities may include conducting research on environmental and sustainability topics, supporting regulatory compliance and reporting related to emissions, waste, and institutional programs, assisting with LEED certifications, promoting sustainability competitions, and contributing to program development and integration with academic partners. While some work may require time outdoors or in mechanical spaces, most tasks will be performed in an office environment.Qualifications:Working toward a degree (Master’s or final-year undergraduate) in environmental sustainability, environmental studies, environmental engineering, business with an environmental focus, or a related field.Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize tasks, and remain organized.Creative and critical thinking abilities.Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a proactive manner.Analytical and mathematical skills are an asset.Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.Experience engaging with individuals from diverse academic backgrounds.Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks (, AASHE STARS, THE Impact Rankings) is an asset.Understanding of environmental sustainability in a post-secondary context is an asset.Familiarity with federal and provincial environmental legislation and regulationJob Type: Full Time, Temporary.Employment Period: A period of up to 16 weeks.
