The Role Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, the Dean, Faculty of Medicine is the senior academic and administrative leader of the Faculty. The overarching goal of all teaching, research, and leadership efforts is to ensure the highest standard of care for patients and communities. Key priorities for the Dean will include: Lead strategic direction for medical education, research, and clinical partnerships across the Maritime provinces, ensuring alignment with institutional and regional priorities in support of patient-centered care. Strengthen distributed medical education and expansion of rural and community-based training to improve access and outcomes for underserved populations. Champion equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility (EDIA), Reconciliation, and Indigenization across admissions, curriculum, leadership, and community engagement. Advance research excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration, with a focus on regional health priorities and global impact. Deepen partnerships with health authorities, Indigenous and African Nova Scotian communities, and government stakeholders to align academic and clinical missions. Promote operational excellence by navigating fiscal challenges with transparency, supporting fundraising efforts, and fostering a culture of respect, innovation, and wellness. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a respected leader with a strong clinical foundation and a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, research, social accountability, and inclusive leadership.
