Apply today to join our team As a Music Therapist with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:Develop, implement, and evaluate client treatment plans and provides music therapy to promote, maintain, and restore client’s mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health.Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and approved research, provides formal and informal consultations to other staff/community music therapists and supervises and evaluate the work activities of music therapy practicum students and interns.Collaborate with the Patient Services Manager regarding operational issues and concerns and the Professional Practice Director, Occupational Therapy & Music Therapy for practice issues and concerns. Qualifications Education & ExperienceCompletion of a program recognized by the Canadian Association of Music Therapy plus accreditation with the Canadian Association for Music Therapy.Three (3) years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Current member of the Canadian Association for Music Therapy.Current member of the Music Therapy Association of British Columbia.Knowledge & AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to provide music therapy to patients in an acute, rehabilitation and/or continuing care settings.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Demonstrated proficiency in piano, guitar and voice.Broad knowledge of music therapy theory and practice.Broad knowledge of harmony, theory and history.Broad knowledge of symptoms, problems and needs associated with disabilities and illnesses.Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict situations.Demonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate and coach.Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Broad knowledge of the range of improvisation styles.Broad knowledge of solo and ensemble playing, composition and conducting.Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.Basic computer literacy with word processing and database skills.General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
