Engineers and Geoscientists BC is currently searching for an Investigator to join our team in Burnaby on a 1-year contract The Investigator's primary responsibility is assisting with the investigation of complaints against engineers and geoscientists, or engineering or geoscience firms, by taking conduct of investigation files. The Investigator will gather evidence for the investigations through written correspondence, interviewing parties involved in the investigation, and any other steps deemed necessary. The Investigator has the ability to assimilate and organize large amounts of information and write clear and concise reports. We are looking for individuals with a background in conducting investigations, who have strong communication skills, are naturally curious and inquisitive, and enjoy organizing and analyzing information. Full details on our compensation and benefits value offering can be found below. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Analyze complaint files and set out investigation plans to advance the investigation process. Support the subcommittees of the Investigation Committee during the investigation process and provide recommendations, based on analysis of evidence. Research issues that arise during the course of an investigation. Interview witnesses by telephone or in-person. Retain and coordinate external experts required for investigations. Possibly act as a witness at a disciplinary hearing. Act in a fair and unbiased manner and conduct a professional investigation. Other duties as assigned by management. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE The successful applicant will possess the following: A university degree is required.3-5 years experience conducting investigations, preferably working in a law firm, legal department, professional regulatory body, or equivalent. Knowledge of engineering or geoscience is an asset but not required. Candidates with technical engineering or geoscience or similar backgrounds will be considered. Advanced research and analytical skills. Strong project management skills and knowledge required to successfully manage complex files. Excellent communication skills and ability to build working relationships throughout Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Experience with Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
