Our stability, resources, and respectful culture support long-term careers with a team you can count on.About the RoleAs Chief Engineer, you will lead the Technical Airworthiness Group (TAG), providing enterprise-wide direction and oversight for engineering, airworthiness, and technical innovation. This role ensures compliance, manages airworthiness risk, supports product and repair development, and advances the capabilities needed to maintain competitiveness and support business growth.TAG enables technical excellence through governance of engineering standards, failure investigations, training and development, and the application of new technologies across the organization.What You’ll DoProvide enterprise leadership for engineering, airworthiness risk management, failure investigation, and technical standardsPropose and lead strategic initiatives, securing executive alignment and resourcesContribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and performance outcomes; manage the TAG annual budgetCommunicate progress, results, and risks to senior leaders and key stakeholdersSupport business units in technical engagements with regulators, OEMs, and external authoritiesEstablish and maintain engineering procedures, standards, and personnel qualifications impacting compliance and airworthinessLead and develop a team of engineering leaders and professionals, including hiring, performance management, and succession planningPromote and enable technical innovation, including new technologies, repair development, and process improvementsRepresent StandardAero in industry forums and regulatory engagementsSupport approvals, certifications, and continued operation of design organizations (DOA, DAO, ODA)Lead or support special projects as assignedFlight Safety & Airworthiness AccountabilityFlight Safety is our highest priority. Under StandardAero’s Safety Management System (SMS), the Chief Engineer will:Promote a strong flight safety culture across engineering and business teamsTake timely and appropriate action on airworthiness concernsMonitor organizational risk related to engineering workload, capability, and proficiencyEstablish standards for identification and control of safety-critical parts and processesDefine criteria for continued airworthiness risk assessmentAct in alignment with the company’s Just Culture policyQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical EngineeringProfessional Engineer registration (. or PE)Minimum 15 years’ experience in an aeronautical maintenance or manufacturing environmentStrong leadership, planning, analytical, and communication skillsIn-depth knowledge of civil aviation regulations, OEM ICA’s, and regulatory standardsDeep technical expertise in powerplant MRO processes, mechanical design, failure analysis, metallurgy, and turbine engine theorySpecialized training in Airworthiness Engineering or Certification (preferred)Authorization to work in Canada and/or the United StatesPreferred ExperiencePrior experience working with Civil Aviation Authorities on repair or design approval dataExtensive product knowledge, including component inspection, distress, and failure mechanismsWorking knowledge of project management practicesExperience with ERP and engineering systems used in maintenance and operational controlBenefits That Make Life BetterComprehensive health and dental coveragePension plan with company match (up to 5%)Paid Time Off starting day oneBonus opportunitiesShort- and long-term disabilityLife & AD&D insuranceLearning and development opportunities
