The Opportunity The Lincoln Alexander School of Law is seeking a Manager, Advocacy, Mooting and Student Learning. In this role, you will oversee the Mooting & Advocacy Skills Program at TMU’s Lincoln Alexander School of Law, ensuring student success, strengthening internal and external partnerships, and managing program operations.You will develop meaningful opportunities for students to enhance oral and written advocacy skills, support student learning outcomes, guide course selection, and lead external partner relations related to mooting and advocacy. You will also collaborate with Toronto Metropolitan University units to ensure law students have knowledge and access to programs and resources offered through central services.Other responsibilities include:Overseeing the Law School's Mooting and Advocacy Skills Program, including organizing internal competitions, facilitating tryouts for external competitions, selecting and providing support to students participating in external competitions, managing all moot and competition-based logistics, and conducting regular student check-ins to ensure thorough preparation and strong performance. Building and maintaining partnerships with faculty members, lawyers, judges, alumni, and other legal professionals to provide coaching and mentorship for students participating in moots and advocacy competitions. Liaising with the Law School’s finance team to fulfill financial obligations tied to the Mooting & Advocacy Skills Program. Overseeing the budget, independently allocating funds, and ensuring that all activities align with event and program budgets while maintaining accurate records.Collaborating with the recruitment, admissions, marketing, and communications teams to promote the Law School’s Mooting & Advocacy Skills programs and ensure that prospective, incoming, and current students are well-informed about the learning and academic support services available.Developing programs to assist graduating law students in preparing for the Licensing Examinations with the Law Society of Ontario through hosting information sessions, answering specific student questions, gathering and communicating resources and hiring third party experts to provide services.Designing and implementing sustainable and innovative academic and skills-based supports and programming to ensure student success. Overseeing Academic Support resources at the Law School, including the Legal Writing Centre, which includes hiring and supervising Legal Writing Specialists, collaborating with faculty and course instructors to analyze student needs, and conducting workshops.Managing and supervising staff, assigning and prioritizing tasks, establishing goals, setting expectations and evaluating performance. Providing clarity of roles, responsibilities and accountabilities in order to enable staff to manage their areas of responsibility in an effective, efficient and transparent manner.Maintaining program databases and reporting tools related to mooting, advocacy, academic success, and student learning. Leading and participating in special projects and student initiatives as designed by the Dean, the Senior Administration Team, or University Administration.
