The Opportunity We are looking for a Learning Environment Advisor to join the Learner Affairs team in the School of Medicine The Advisor promotes and sustains a respectful, inclusive and safe learning environment within the School of Medicine by serving as a neutral and confidential point of contact for learners raising concerns related to mistreatment, professionalism, or respect. This role will support the intake and documentation of disclosures specific to the learning environment, ensuring trauma-informed, timely, and policy-aligned responses. The Advisor also collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate appropriate next steps and ensures alignment with medical education accreditation standards.As a trusted resource for medical learners, the Advisor will track and assess systemic trends and contribute to outreach initiatives that foster a culture of professionalism, equity, and accountability. The Advisor will also support learner and clinical faculty compliance with learning environment policies, facilitate access to relevant institutional resources, and promote awareness through targeted engagement and coordination focusing exclusively on learning environment concerns within clinical, classroom, and community-based training settings.Responsibilities include:Mistreatment disclosures & learner supportStakeholder collaboration and response planningAccreditation compliance and reportingAwareness, outreach and engagementCommunity and cultural changeQualificationsTo help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:Completion of a post-secondary degree in education, social work, public health, or a related field.Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in student affairs, advising, conflict resolution, or a related support-focused role in a post-secondary, healthcare, or similar environment.Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.Previous experience in medical education or working with medical learners would be considered an asset.Strong understanding of trauma-informed and equity-centered practices.Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with impartiality, discretion, and empathy.Knowledge of respectful learning environment principles, harassment and discrimination policies, and professionalism standards in health professions education.Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills with ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.Ability to navigate complex institutional structures and coordinate across multiple units and stakeholders.Familiarity with accreditation standards in medical education (e.g., CACMS).Knowledge of university systems (e.g., Student Care, HRS, Sexual Violence Support) and applicable provincial/federal legislation (e.g., Ontario Human Rights Code).
