Full Time Utility Meter Reader

Applicants need to be at least 18 years of age, hold a valid driver’s license, have a reliable vehicle and have a clean criminal and driving record. Successful candidates must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as a condition of employment, unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the BC Human Rights Code.All of our field staff are provided with:Safety gear including company boot (allowance), vests, glasses, etc.Paid Training, and after the initial classroom training and field training employees will be transitioned to being paid on a piece work basis which allows most of our employees to earn in excess of $30+ / hourBenefits include medical and dental insurance, vacation & holiday payResponsibilities: This position is responsible for reading gas meters and recording volume used by residential and commercial consumers to ensure accurate consumption and billing. May perform visual meter inspection to assess the condition and overall operation of the meter and note any visible defects or issues. Requirements: Valid driver’s licenseMust successfully pass pre-employment screenings: background check and driving recordMust have access to your own reliable vehicleMust be able to walk up to 10-15 miles per day while reading meters accuratelyMust be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as a condition of employmentWorking Conditions and Hours: Day shift hours, Monday-FridayOutdoor work environmentLittle supervision to give you freedom to work independently and manage your own dayKnowledge and Abilities: Successfully complete the company’s training program and pass applicable written and field testsLearn and apply safety measure relating to motor vehicle operation and other field related mattersOlameter is one of the largest meter servicing companies in North America with over 1, employees providing services in 30 states and provinces to over utilities.
