Unit 3 is a 27 bed unit accepting patients from birth to 18 years of age. Patient populations on Unit 3 can include general pediatric medicine, neuro surgery, neurology, burns, nephrology, and urology.As a Unit Clerk on Unit 3, you are responsible for the provision of clerical and organizational support to the patient care area. Duties have a significant public relations focus in relation to communication with patients/families/visitors and members of the multidisciplinary team. Confidentiality of patient information is essential. The Unit Clerk participates in a multidisciplinary team and works both in an independent and collaborative manner. You will practice in a way that supports family centered care. Opportunities for professional growth include participation on unit-based education/safety committees, motivation committees, and participation in ACH/AHS initiatives. The incumbent may be required to work in other care areas of the hospital as needed. To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered, please attach a resume and cover letter with your application.Description: As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit. Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Demonstrated initiative, accountability, time management, and problem-solving ability. Flexible in the work environment and able to set priorities. Excellent telephone manner. Ability to function as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team.
