Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Director of Rural Acute Care in Southeast Central Zone, the Acute Care Manager provides leadership and operational direction to the Acute Care Inpatient Unit and Emergency Department at the Drumheller Health Centre. Drumheller Health Centre’s full suite of healthcare services provides a range of care for a wide variety of medical concerns and includes a 24/7 Emergency department. Drumheller Health Centre features 33 acute care, 4 restorative care, and 8 long term care beds, and includes general medicine, surgical, maternity, palliative care. Teams at Drumheller Health Centre participate in interdisciplinary rounds, facilitating more effective collaboration and a holistic approach to patient care. You can read more about this dinosaur loving Community in the Spotlight featured on the AHS website at Description: The Rural Acute Manager is responsible to provide staff and program leadership clinical operations in acute care and the Emergency Department at Drumheller Health Centre. In addition, this position will have the opportunity to inform and support the implementation of local, zonal, and/or provincial initiatives. Key areas of responsibility include ensuring the effective deployment of human resources (scheduling, rotations, skill mix etc.), and creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace where staff feel engaged, supported, and valued, and can do their best work every day. This could include but is not limited to supporting just in time learning, coaching, mentoring, orientation, and ongoing staff training and development. Additionally, the manager will ensure the appropriate allocation of fiscal and capital resources across the area of accountability and understand and report on the operating budget in accordance with established AHS policies and practices. It is expected the manager will foster a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure the ongoing delivery of safe, high-quality, consistent patient and family centred care. Required Qualifications: A post-secondary degree in a health profession, health administration, leadership or other comparable degree. Registration with an Alberta Regulated Health Profession, as appropriate. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional development ( continuing education courses).Additional Required Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing quality services. Experience in collaborating with physicians and other health care professionals. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrated effective problem solving. Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to foster relationships to further the effectiveness of both the site(s) managed and programs contained within. Knowledge and understanding of Collective agreements and working with a unionized workforce. Discretion with sensitive situations, data, and personnel. Ability to work hard, have fun & contribute to a dynamic, successful healthcare team.Preferred Qualifications: Experience leading healthcare teams & providing innovative solutions to complex system issues. Proven coaching skills to support team members to reach their full potential. Experience in a leadership role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Strong knowledge of Rural Acute Care, Emergency, and the corresponding complexities is an asset.
