The Opportunity: The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting a Property Assessor 4 (Residential) to fill a permanent full-time position. The Property Assessor 4 provides assessment expertise and analysis in the valuation of residential or non-residential property types. Understanding and experience with system integrations and ability to collect complex data and apply statistical measures and analysis in completion of assessment valuations. Interpretation and application of relevant provincial legislation, communicating and defending assessment information successfully, and to apply assessment knowledge to inform other City functions and projects. As our preferred candidate, you will have: Two-year post-secondary diploma in property assessment or related fieldProfessional designation - Accredited Municipal Assessor of Alberta (AMAA), Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI), Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA), Residential Evaluation Specialist (RES) or Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE).Minimum 5 years of directly related experience in valuation including highly developed analytical skillsAdditional specialized courses in income capitalization, analysis of income and expense statements, valuations, sales analysis and leadership or comparable experienceValid Alberta Driver’s license with the use of a personal vehicleDemonstrated ability to solve complex problems and demonstrate sound judgementDemonstrated strong communication skills both verbal and writtenDemonstrated ability to prioritize effectivelyDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively in conflict situations, positive attitude, willingness to work constructively in team environmentDemonstrated initiative and self-motivation at the professional level, including continual learningDemonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, case law, procedures and principles governing property assessmentDemonstrated self-directed experience with the ability to prioritize effectivelyDemonstrated ability to time manage and work efficiently Affiliation: Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 417 Remuneration: $52.90 to $55.68 per hour Hours of Work: 75 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, some evening and weekend work may be required when needed.  Additional Information: The Closing Date is set for February 13, 2026; but it may be extended until a suitable candidate has been found. *Hybrid remote work may be considered for this role.The City of Red Deer does not permit the use of unauthorized internet resources or Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools (for example, Copilot, ChatGPT or any other form of AI) during interviews or any supervised or timed assessments.
