Your Opportunity:Under general direction, the Respiratory Therapists: plan, implement and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services to assist Physicians/Nurse Practitioners in the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. The incumbent actively participates in the education of patients, staff and students, provides technical support for all equipment related to the practice of Respiratory Therapy, and assists with general departmental/patient care functions and will also participate in quality monitoring activities. The Respiratory Therapist may provide their skill and expertise within other areas on site including (but not limited to): Operating Room, Emergency Department, Inpatients Unit, Obstetrics, Day Surgery and Outpatients.Description: As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments. Required Qualifications: Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).Additional Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy. Successful completion of the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) certification. One-year Respiratory Therapy clinical experience post-graduation, in an acute care setting. Current CPR certification required. Ability to use initiative, take responsibility, and self-organize in a team environment. Ability to work under pressure and handle competing priorities in a dynamic environment. Ability to work collaboratively on a multi-disciplinary patient care team, and interact positively with staff, physicians, patients and visitors. Proven ability to advocate effectively for patients.Preferred Qualifications: Emergency and NICU experience preferred. ACLS, PALS, NRP preferred.
