Reporting to the Team Lead, Interprofessional Teams, the Community Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the delivery of Community Respiratory Services within Northern Health including promotion of respiratory health, assessment, diagnostic testing, education, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with respiratory dysfunction. Formulates and documents respiratory care plans and disease self-management strategies.Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday / Days 08:30 to 16:30Fort St. John is located above the Peace River Valley, and has a diverse population of 21,000 (2021)and serves an area of approximately 69,000. Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) credentialing exam. Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT). Two years' recent related experience in respiratory home care, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Current CPR certification.• Valid BC driver’s license and access to personal vehicle for work related purposes.Skills and Abilities: • Demonstrated clinical and technical competence.• Self-directed and able to work in an environment of continual change.• Ability to deal with others effectively.• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.• Ability to educate patients on effective respiratory disease management.• Ability to organize work, prioritize workload, and work independently.• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.• Ability to operate related equipment.Who we areNorthern Health covers an area of nearly 600,000 square kilometers and offers health services in over two dozen communities and 55 First Nation’s communities.
