As a general contractor in the field of Heavy Civil Construction and Earthworks, we specialize in subdivision development, site preparation and servicing, public road reconstruction, and road and highway construction.We are committed to our employees’ safety and to environmental stewardship.We are searching for an *experienced Hydrovac Operator that can also operate Gravel trucks and lowbeds* to join our hardworking crew here in the Okanagan.The ideal candidate must have 5+ years of experience with hauling lowbed trailers, operating hydrovac and gravel trucks, as well as* Experience driving in and around work sites* Eye for detail* Good communication skills* Great work ethic and attitudeAttentive to safety standardsWage will be based upon experience.\ *\*Please note that we are not accepting out-of-country resumes at this time.*Responsibilities:** Must be able to maintain a daily electronic and written log* Must be able to pull permits* Must be able to hook, unhook, and load lowbed trailers* Must be able to securely tie down a load as per regulations* Must be able to plan routes* Must understand and adhere to MOT guidelines* Must be aware of vehicle height and overhead structures and utilities* Must be able to comfortably operate various equipment and load/unload onto lowbed trailers* Must be able to communicate effectively with others* Must complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck and trailers* Must be able to perform daily safety and maintenance checks* Must be able to work with minimal supervision* Must be able to work well with a team* Must be organized* Must be patient* Must maintain a clean and organized vehicle*Education & Experience:** Must have a minimum of 5 years experience driving gravel trucks and lowbed trailers, and operating hydrovac trucks* Must have a valid Class 1 Driver's Licence with Air Brakes Endorsement* Must have experience swamping, trenching, etc and working with underground utilities* Must have computer skills* Must have a good understanding of hydrovac mechanics* Mechanical skills is an asset* Ground Disturbance Certification is an asset*Physical Demands:** Sitting for extended periods of time* Climbing in and out of truck* Standing, Walking, Bending, Squatting, Climbing* Lifting objects up to 50 lbs* Working in varying temperatures and weather conditions*Work Environment:** Working in all seasons* Working around heavy equipment* Exposure to dust and loud noises*Benefits:** Dental Care* Vision Insurance* Extended Health Insurance* Disability Insurance* Life Insurance* RRSP MatchJob Type: Full-timePay: $30.00-$31.00 per hourBenefits:* Dental care* Life insurance* Vision careExperience:* Lowbed: 5 years (Required)* Hydrovac: 5 years (Required)License/Certification:* Class 1 Driver's Licence with Air Brakes Endorsement (Required)Work Location: In person
