SUMMARY OF THE POSITION This individual, in collaboration with the medical team or professional and technical staff, participates in the development of various therapeutic activity rehabilitation programs and ensures their ongoing implementation. They organize and lead individual and group activities, participate in the assessment of users' behavior and attitudes, and prepare required observation and statistical reports. SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS The Rehabilitation Assistant (RA) position within the CBHSSJB is a vital role dedicated to supporting rehabilitation professionals by providing direct client care. The RA works in various environments, including clients' homes, the Chisasibi Regional Hospital, the Multi-Service Day Center (MSDC), Elder’s Home, and occasionally schools or daycares. He/She will: • Work closely with clinicians (ex. Occupational Therapists -OT/Physiotherapists-PT) to complete exercises and activities with clients according to professional recommendations. Provide in-person support during assessments and interventions. • Plan and lead activities for client stimulation and wellness, both one-on-one and in groups, at clients’ home and in at the CMC clinic. • Assist clients in daily living activities, both independently and with OTs/PTs. • Adjust, deliver, disinfect, and install rehabilitation equipment (with training). • Call clients to schedule appointments, manage OT/PT referrals, and waiting lists. • Identify and mitigate safety risks in various client environments, including homes. • Participate in team meetings and document client interactions when professionals are not present. • Use different plateforms: MYLE, Outlook REQUIREMENTS Education: • High School Diploma LOWER REQUIREMENT In absence of high school diploma an alternative profile may be accepted as follows: A combination of knowledge and experience relevant to the position. Knowledge and Skills: • Knowledge or open to learn about rehabilitation equipment management, including adjustment, delivery, disinfection, and installation. • Ability to support OTs/PTs during assessments and interventions. • Skills in managing appointments and referrals. • Experience in planning and leading stimulating client activities. • Ability to identify and mitigate safety risks in client environments. Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift and move rehabilitation equipment. • Physical ability to assist clients with mobility and daily living activities. Personal Skills and Attributes: • Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, families, and healthcare professionals. • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and families. • Compassionate and client-centered approach to client care. • Patience and empathy in addressing client needs. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing activities and schedules. • Flexibility to adapt to client needs and varying work environments. LANGUAGE • Fluency in Cree and English; • Fluent in French is an asset. OTHER • Valid driver’s license for transporting equipment and providing client home visits. • Basic computer skills (ex. for scheduling, notes, communication). PREREQUISITES UPON HIRING • Motivated and interested in working in health care is preferred. • Experience working in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting is preferred.
