Lookout Housing and Health Society is a charitable organization that provides housing and support services to adults with low or no income. We aim to help people help themselves, addressing homelessness by securing appropriate housing.

Salary

$24.50 - $25.91 per hour

Position Summary

The Development Associate is responsible for external communications, including website management and social media. Duties include supporting development activities like proposal and grant writing, organizing special events, and managing donor and volunteer relations. Compliance with Lookout's confidentiality rules and health and safety programs is required.

Qualification & Requirement
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, humanities, or social sciences, and/or at least 3 years of related experience.
  • Vulnerable sector criminal records clearance, bondable, and COVID-19 vaccination required.
  • Current Class 5 driver’s license preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to manage digital information systems, including social media. Photography skills are an asset.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including research and editing.
  • Ability to build relationships in diverse environments.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Problem-solving skills with discretion and judgment.
  • Experience with office equipment and software, including Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office.
  • Vehicle use may be required.
Job Duties1. Communications
  • Research, write, and post content on the website, social media, blogs, and newsletters related to programming for education and awareness.
  • Create, edit, and publish visual content as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality in communications.
  • Manage external newsletter content.
  • Produce media talking points, speeches, and presentations.
  • Distribute and follow up on press releases and event listings.
  • Implement media relations strategies.
  • Track media engagement and coordinate during events.
  • Produce informational and promotional materials.
2. Support to Development Manager
  • Cultivate and solicit partnerships and donations.
  • Raise awareness about Lookout at community events.
  • Assist in planning media strategies for events.
  • Write and review grants and proposals.
  • Organize fundraising campaigns.
  • Maintain knowledge of Lookout services and best practices.
  • Comply with policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
