Position Summary
The Industrial Engineer will apply technical knowledge and expertise to ensure robust manufacturing process design and lead production improvement projects. Manage manufacturing performance deliverables such as implementation of CI suggestions, scrap reduction initiatives and OEE improvements. Supporting technical and manufacturing solutions; including engineering and design to achieve goals and objectives relating to projects and services for continuous improvement and risk reduction across all production plants nationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct time studies, identify capacity constraints and opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Support in the development of Process Control Plans and Process Flow Charts
- Facilitate Continuous Improvement Activities (Workshop, Kaizen, Suggestion, etc.)
- Coach and mentor other facilitators on the Continuous Improvement Activities.
- Perform training for all levels in the organization on Lean Manufacturing elements and other best practices.
- Lead line design workshops to optimize the layout of production lines, workstations, and material flow.
- Lead and participate in Value Stream Mapping to analyze and improve the flow of materials and information within a process or across a full value stream.
- Generate and maintain line layouts to optimize floor space.
- Assist with ergonomic assessments to ensure they meet ergonomic standards and enhance worker safety and efficiency.
- Act as a change leader in the facility to find and implement the latest state of the art lean manufacturing / material flow techniques.
- Coordinate, lead, and participate in various multi-disciplined teams in addressing and fulfilling objectives associated with, manufacturing process, productivity, volume outputs, scrap/rework, quality, safety, and delivery commitment.
- Ensure compliance and enforcement of ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO14001.
- Lead any plant improvement actions that may be required.
- BSc in Engineering, preferably Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
- 3 years of experience in manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of workstation design and ergonomics.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Tools.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD applications an asset.
- Intermediate computer skills in Spreadsheets, Word Processing, Microsoft Project, Flowcharts, and an understanding of BI, SAP, CAD.
- High level of organizational skills required.
