Your Next Challenge:

Reporting to the Vice President, Ontario, you will be part of the Community Department and collaborate with the Corporate Team in Community Relations and more globally the Community of Practices in Community Relations. You will ensure that Agnico Eagle Mines’ global and regional community relations policies, plans, standards, procedures, values and management practices are in alignment. You will ensure that community relations processes, programs, policies and management practices are in alignment with these standards. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Develop an implementation strategy for both Impact and Benefit Agreements (IBAs) and Exploration Agreements (EAs) with Corporate and Regional Management;
  • Ensure consistency across Ontario’s different sites regarding the community relations approach;
  • Ensure communication with all Community Relations teams in Ontario to ensure that community relations policies, plans, standards, procedures, values and management practices are deployed in all our sites (Exploration and Operations);
  • Develop, propose, and implement relationship plans with various stakeholders and Indigenous nations, or ensure that the Community Relations team at the site is taking this responsibility;
  • Assist exploration teams in the various consultations and obtaining of different permits;
  • Act as a representative for Agnico Eagle Mines, ensuring liaison and cooperation with stakeholders and rightholders;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of community relations plans;
  • Seek to establish community relations synergies between sites;
  • Supervise consultants in community relations when required;
  • Act as a leader for the internal and external audits in community relations and ensure that Agnico Eagle Mines’ performance objectives are met;
  • Participate in Socio-Economic Impacts and Monitoring research initiatives and in any audits to ensure compliance with agreements or standards;
  • Prepare and collect the information needed to produce various reports and follow up on the different KPIs;
  • Support the Corporate Community Relations teams in the achievement of their objectives;
  • Work and collaborate closely with sites and the environmental team to support the permitting processes;
  • Develop a communication strategy to inform stakeholders of the progress of requirements found in IBAs and EAs;
  • Support and provide advice to the Agnico Eagle teams on IBA and EA implementation;
  • Direct the preparation of IBA and EA reports and others as required and submit within the mandatory timeframes specified in the IBAs and EAs;
  • Provide advice and recommendations on any external communications requirements related to the IBAs and EAs;
  • Provide support to the Environmental, Communications and Governmental Relations teams;
  • Ensure consistency between the various community relations plans of the sites, consistency with Agnico Eagle practices and compliance with Company policies.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Degree or Diploma in Communications, Business Administration, Environment, or a related discipline/equivalent;
  • Minimum 10 years of senior-level experience in stakeholder relations and negotiations, with experience in the mining industry preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle situations with calm and diplomacy;
  • Excellent written, listening and communication skills, with French language skills considered an asset;
  • Experience in a cross-cultural working environment;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, at our Timmins Regional Office, Sudbury or North Bay offices. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
