Calian is proactively seeking a NavSim Operator (Mentor) for the Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax, NS. This is a casual position where the resource must be available outside core hours including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Mentors are required to program and operate 1 to 4 bridges simultaneously and/or provide command-level mentorship and instruction to support various training and work requirements
  • Report Software Issues and Maintenance
  • Collaborate with Kongsberg customer support to report and resolve software faults and issues
  • Create and/or update NavSim scenarios as requested by the Technical Authority or designated personnel
  • Deliver NavSim programming, operation, and maintenance training when requested by the Technical Authority
  • Provide command-level mentor training as needed
  • Program and operate 1 to 4 bridges simultaneously to support various training programs and work requirements
Qualifications
  • MWS/Surface Command Part II qualification or Fleet/Destroyer Navigating Officer qualification
  • Minimum of 1 month of experience operating a Kongsberg Simulator Software (KSIM) Navigation Simulator (NavSim) including practical experience in scenario construction and execution
  • Commanding Officer of a Warship for a minimum of nine (9) months
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to work on site in Halifax, NS
  • You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Secret Level

  • A security clearance and/or vulnerable sector screening might be required for this position.
