This position is a part-time recurring, with approximately 10 months of the year being 28 hours/week and 2 months of the year being 14 hours/week, depending on season needs.

Working for The Faculty of Rehabilitation MedicineThe Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine creates knowledge, inspires learning, and advances the practice of rehabilitation to enhance health and participation. The Faculty has three departments providing accredited professional programs (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology) as well as a vibrant continuing professional education portfolio and numerous clinics, centres, and institutes. The faculty operates satellite campuses for the professional programs in Camrose and Calgary. Currently, the faculty has approximately 70 faculty and academic teaching staff and 30 support staff serving approximately 1,000 graduate students.
Position SummaryThe Occupational Therapy Program Assistant provides technical and administrative support to the course-based MScOT program. The incumbent also models the clinical role of the Therapist Assistant for students in the program. This position reports to the Associate Chair, who is also the Curriculum Coordinator, and works with and handles requests from both faculty and students to support MScOT courses.
Duties Administrative and Instructional Support to MScOT Program (50%)- Maintains inventory of equipment/materials and orders replacements as needed
- Oversees logistics for practical exams, including the booking of rooms and standardized patients through HSERC B-line system
- Invigilates both practical and written exams
- Schedules and assists client educators
- Assists instructors in preparation of various learning activities
- Coordinates student access to learning resources and labs
- Monitors student practice labs
- Maintains all teaching laboratories and one resource room
- Completes routine maintenance on lab equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers etc.
- Provides technical support for courses and labs
- Sets-up and takes down lab demonstrations and equipment
- Assists instructors with distributed education technology
- Assists instructors with the delivery of online course content using the University's learning management system
- Participates in recruitment activities such as high school orientations, job fairs, etc.
- Supports the student-based Professional Development Committee in organizing various activities
- Organizes and leads supplementary learning activities for MScOT students focused on technical skills needed for clinical practice
- The ideal candidate will be an experienced Therapy Assistant and have a Therapist Assistant diploma; however, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform tasks accurately with high attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Ability to use their initiative to work both independently and collaborate as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Google Applications and/or eClass is an asset
- Experience working in a post-secondary environment is an asset
