**OVERVIEW**

We are seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our dedicated team at Community Options. As a PUF provider of inclusive education solutions focused on early intervention therapy services, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Teachers, Speech Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, and Developmental Support Assistants (DSA) to support children in their community daycares and/or preschools. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic supports to children.
- Implement strategies across daily routines in daycare or preschool settings
- Document and share children’s progress with the team.
- Provide timely written summaries of services rendered.
- Create and maintain materials for programming.
- Assist the OT and Coordinating Teacher with various tasks, including material creation.
- Deliver in-services and workshops for Developmental Support Assistants.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss strategies and progress.
- Contribute to agency and community initiatives.
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve program goals.
- Perform other duties as required.

**EDUCATION**
- Diploma as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (or equivalent education and experience).
- Occupational Therapy Assistant experience - 1 year preferred

**QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS**

- 1-year Occupational Therapy Assistant experience (preferred)
- Prior Occupational Therapy experience with preschoolers is an asset.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm in engaging and motivating young children.
- Commitment to inclusive practices and respect for diversity.
- Strong adaptability, reliability, and effective time management skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Physical ability to kneel, squat, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to run in certain circumstances to ensure child safety.
- Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed for health and safety.
- Willingness to work occasional evening or weekend shifts for professional development or events.

**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Current Alberta Intervention Record Check (obtained within the past 6 months or more recent to hire date)
- Criminal Record Check (obtained within the past 6 months or more recent to hire date)
- Current certification in Standard Childcare First Aid with CPR/AED or Standard First Aid with CPR/AED

**WORKING CONDITIONS and CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**
- Travel in and around Edmonton and surrounding areas to sites is required (mileage reimbursed)
- Monday to Friday - Full-time / 35 hours per week
- Periods of prolonged sitting, exposure to a computer screen
- Performing repetitive movements
- Occasional evenings and weekends for Community Options events, professional development or meetings

**SALARY: $25.85 - $32.62**per hour based on education and experience

**JOB TYPE**:Contract - Full-time / 35 hours per week

**SCHEDULE**:Monday to Friday

**EXPECTED START DATE: January 6, 2025**

**CONTRACT END DATE: June 27, 2025**(possible extension in the new 2025/26 school year)
