Facilities Project Coordinator

Cambrian College’s Facilities Management requires a Facilities Project Coordinator beginning December 2024.
Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Projects and Planning, the Facilities Project Coordinator will assist with planning, organizing, documenting, and reviewing of various construction, renovation and maintenance projects across Cambrian College - Barry Downe campus. This role requires an organized and adaptable problem solver with strong project management skills, ideally with a background in facilities management.
Under the supervision of the Manager, Facilities Projects and Planning, the incumbent will:
- Liaise with college stakeholders to support defining project requirements, scopes and objects that alight with organizational goals.
- Coordinate the development of project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, resource allocation and risk management strategies for internal renovation projects.
- As a support to larger capital projects, coordinate internal and external resources, ensuring that projects remain within scope, schedule and budget.
- Monitor project progress, document and provide routine updates to Supervisor. When necessary, provide recommendations to adapt scope or timeline to achieve project objectives.
- Assign tasks to team members, including TFEE students, to complete assigned projects and goals.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Ensure that all aspects of a project are organized and in conformance with timeline and deliverables requirement.
- Maintain project performance database that tracks overall progress and achievement milestones.
- Document and report project risks and outcomes to appropriate management, escalating issues according to project work plan.
- Maintain college’s record drawings database and created drawings/sketches as requested
- Coordinate contractor quotes and estimates for internal renovations.
- In coordination with Purchasing Department, establish RFx and PO administration/processing.
- Serve as point of communication between college and external resources.
- Have a good understanding of local building codes and provincial regulations, as well as college policies and standards.
- Enforce safety protocols to protect the well-being of students, staff, contractors and visitors.
Qualifications
- Three-year postsecondary diploma/degree preferably within the Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field. Curriculum must have included computer aided drafting (AutoCAD) (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with the application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
- Certified Engineering Technology or hold a Certificate of Qualification in a trade relevant to building construction and maintenance (must be sent with resume upon application)
- Three years of experience working in a construction/design capacity or in an industrial/institutional environment.
- Must have experience working with facilities management software and computer aided drafting programs (AutoCAD) and have worked with integrated office computer software, proficient in word processing, spreadsheet and database management.
- Sound understanding of architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings and systems.
- Excellent planning and organization skills, along with solid communication skills both verbal and written
- Must possess highly creative problem-solving skills
- Must be a self-directed and energetic professional with the ability to work independently as well as within a team-oriented environment.
Additional Asset / Preferred:
- Experience working in a postsecondary institution.
- Sound knowledge of Cambrian College.
