You as a Building Engineer will:

Report to the supervisor of Plant Operation and Maintenance, the principal duties of a General Maintenance Technician are performing minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical work, cleaning and housekeeping of mechanical and electrical rooms, maintenance shops, and central utility plant, transporting material and equipment and assisting trade staff to perform their duty.

Key Duties
  • Repair desks, chairs, and other wheeled equipment. Completes PPMs which include fire safety equipment.
  • Hang picture, white boards, signs, and festivity decoration.
  • Clean and maintain housekeeping in mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, maintenance shops, and central utility plant.
  • Check out any demand task that does fit a regular category, Transports salt, oil, filter, tools, step ladders, gas cylinders and equipment. Act as a safety watch or assists trades personnel to perform their duties, assist in Bed Shop repairs as needed. Keeping work area orderly, clean and safe and ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain records and information pertinent to work assignment.
  • Close PM and routine work orders on the PDA after completing work assignment.
  • Adhere to the departments established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure that due diligence is exercised in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Observe guidelines, rules and regulations of health and safety as well as infection control appropriate to the area of work.
  • Assist in the coordination of work activity with various client groups in the efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintains strict adherence to the lock out/tag out policy.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required and as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assist in replacing the storekeeper as necessary.
  • Participate in educational programs and in-service trainings. Attends meetings as required.
  • Is expected to be available for a certain amount of overtime.
  • Provide verbal and written reports as requested. Completes assigned tasks in a professional and workmanlike manner.
  • Complete assigned tasks and close the work orders within time frame given in response time policy.
  • Communicate the work status with the client groups via central call center within the time frame given in response time policy.
  • Adhere to the occupational health and safety acts and other legislative enactment. Represent the department with a positive and professional attitude. Maintain an industry level standard productivity level.

  • Grade 12 high school graduate or equivalent
  • 2 years related experience in a similar environment.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently, computer literacy in MS word, excel and database.
  • Ability to work on height, using step ladder, etc.
